Native American Culture and Heritage

The Native American culture and heritage is a very proud and long tradition throughout history.  Native Americans have inhabitated the territory of New England for thousands of years, many centuries before Europeans reached the Americas.  Reminders of their ancient presence are throughout the New England area, for example there are symbols and drawings etched in rock, the Seat of Massasoit at Mount Hope (Montaup), "The Three Sisters" rocks on the shores of Mount Hope Bay (which used to be called Pokanoket Bay, but was later changed by the colonists after the King Philip's War), and Mount Wachusett in Massachusetts.

This section of the website addresses these special sacred locations, as well as the customs, traditions, and heritage of the Native American people as well as about the Pokanoket Tribe of the Wampanoag Nation.  Please check back periodically as we continue to add and update the material contained within this section, because of the vast information within this topic.

Should you have any information to submit for addition to this section of the website or would have a request regarding a particular subject matter, please feel free to contact us and will do what we can to accomodate your interest.
