The Silver Star is the official symbol of the Wampanoag Nation, who are the "People of the Early Light".

The name came about due to the fact that the tribe lives and operates on the eastern shores of New England, next to the vastness of the Atlantic Ocean which allows for the first day's light from Grandfather Sun to shine on the tribe before it moved inland.

It's said by some people that the Silver Star meant "People of the First Light", but this is a misconception because the First Light was actually with our Creator. The Great Creator actually created the Heavens and the Earth long before mankind was eventually placed to inhabit and utilize the land. By incorrectly saying we're the people of the first light would be to place mankind in the wrong place in time in the story of creation and is totally inappropriate to do so. The light was created before mankind was brought into existance, which makes it impossible for us to have seen the actual first light upon our world.

The Pokanoket Emblem

The Seven Crescents are specific and special to the Pokanokets and they compose the official Emblem Insignia of the Royal House of Pokanoket.

The explanation of the different colored cresents are as follows:

Yellow is the first color, which represents the Great Spirit that's our Creator.

Red is the second color, which represents the color of mankind's blood.

When you mix the color of the Great Spirit (Yellow) with the color of man (Red), you get the next color.

Orange is the third color, which represents the color of life.

Blue is the fourth color, which represents the color of the Earth.

Yellow is the fifth color, which is that of the Great Spirit, and is added again to be mixed with the color of the Earth (Blue), to obtain the next color.

Green is the sixth color, which is the color of vegetation.

Purple is the last of the seven colors and is obtained when all of the above listed colors are mixed together.  This last color represents the great mystery, death.
